We are re-launching our regular work party volunteering days on the Uttoxeter Canal, starting on Sunday 30th November from 10am to 3pm. A great way to enjoy the beautiful Churnet Valley, have fun with friends and care for canal heritage.
Work on this occasion will be vegetation clearance and repairs to the wooden edging of the towpath between Bridge 70 and Milepost 23. (Tools and materials will be provided.)
Meet at 10am at Milepost 23 which is near Crumpwood on the Oakamoor to Denstone Greenway, the former trackbed of the North Staffordshire Railway also known as the Churnet Valley Way, a long distance multi-use public footpath. There is no parking available on site so please meet at Milepost 23 at 10am having made your own way on foot. The site is just over 1 mile along the old railway track from either Denstone or Alton. The OS grid reference is SK 088 427. The What3Words location is ///rocky.thumb.openings
Please wear old clothes, stout shoes and bring waterproofs and a packed lunch if staying all day. We will work until approximately 3pm, weather depending.
Please email Alison to let us know that you will be attending, or if you have any queries, alison.smedley@cuct.org.uk
