We have been advised by British Waterways of various restrictions on the Caldon Canal in Hanley between Monday 9 January and Friday 17 February 2012. The works have been planned to coincide with the previously notified navigation closure for delivering the Ivyhouse Embankment works between these dates.
Tuesday 30 August 2011 - Friday 16 September 2011 UPDATE (30 August 2011): Unfortunately the Contractor was delayed on previous works and so they will now take place on the above dates, British Waterways can only apologise for this change which is out of our control.
Visit the Destination Staffordshire marquee to discover more about all the canals in Staffordshire, and the world of possibilities the county holds for holidays and great days out! The Inland Waterways Association (IWA) Stoke-on-Trent branch has joined forces with Staffordshire County Council and arranged for local waterways organisations to exhibit in one marquee supported by the Destination Staffordshire tourism team.
In here you will find displays by the groups campaigning for the: Burslem Port branch, Caldon & Uttoxeter Canals, Lichfield & Hatherton Canals, Stafford Riverway, Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal, and Trent & Mersey Canal, plus the IWA branches for: Lichfield, Stoke-on-Trent and Shrewsbury & North Wales, plus the Shrewsbury & Newport Canal campaigners – yes, that waterway joins the Shropshire Union Canal in Staffordshire!
We have today received the following notification from British Waterways:
Bridge 10, Botteslow Street Bridge
Monday 1 August 2011 - Friday 19 August 2011 Works are to be carried out on behalf of National Grid on the gas pipe adjacent to Botteslow Street Bridge. The pipe is too low for scaffold to be erected; therefore works will be carried out from pontoons. As a result the width of the navigation will be restricted. There will be men on site to instruct boats through the works and the pontoons will be moved as and when necessary to allow boats to pass through.
British Waterways apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
