Cheadle Discovery Centre
10:00am - 3:00pm
The Caldon and Uttoxeter Canals Trust currently have an exhibition in Cheadle Discover Centre, featuring information about the Uttoxeter Canal, recent projects on the Caldon Canal and future volunteering opportunities.
The last day of the exhibition will be on Saturday 28th March from 10am to 3pm, when members of the Trust will be hosting an "At Home" day and will be available to talk to members of the public about the work of the Trust and answer any questions they may have. Why not come along and find out more?
On Monday 23rd March, we will be giving a talk in Denstone Village Hall, entitled A YEAR IN THE LIFE. 2014 was a huge year for the Trust, marking the 40th anniversary of the reopening of the Caldon Canal, as well as being the year that a local volunteer group was established on the Uttoxeter Canal at Crumpwood, carrying on the great work being done as part of the Churnet Valley Living Landscape Partnership.
Our Churnet Valley Living Landscape Partnership colleagues at RSPB are looking for a Woodland Wildlife Surveyor to carry out surveys along the line of the Caldon Canal in the next couple of months. The main task is to undertake a playback surveys for willow tits. This involves playing a willow tit call for two minutes every 100m and then waiting for a further two minutes to see if there is any response.
